Random Thoughts & Ponderings

May The 4th Be With You

I love Star Wars, I've been a fan my whole life but some fans would say I'm not because I'm not an expanded universe fan.

I wasn't old enough to see it in theaters, as I was almost 4 when Return of The Jedi came out but I do remember watching all of the movies with my Cousin Chrissy at our Nana's & Papa's house when we were kids. I'm pretty sure we watched the Ewok's movies before I ever saw A New Hope, Empire, or Return.

If I needed to scratch that Star Wars itch I would watch the original Trilogy. I never watched the cartoons, read any of the books, or anything to do with the expanded universe, except the comic books. I did read through many of the Marvel releases.

I saw Episodes 1, 2, & 3 in theatres when they were released, went to midnight screenings on opening day. To see new Star Wars content was amazing. I wasn't and still am not a fan of Lucas messing with the original trilogy with his edits.

I did get my hands on the Star Wars Holiday special and I have watched that a few times.

When Disney bought the rights and announced new movies, I was excited. It didn't hurt my feelings when Disney declared that the expanded universe was not canon.

My oldest son is a Star Wars fan, I took him to see Episodes 7, 8, & 9 as well as Rogue One and Solo on opening day. We saw 7 & 9 twice in theatres. I've also watched all of the series on Disney+ to date, not the animated ones. I enjoyed all 5 of the movies, with Rogue One probably being the best Star Wars movie of all time.

I can't say it's all of Disney's new live action movies and series have been amazing, but I've enjoyed it more than I didn't. The one I was most disappointed with was Book of Boba Fett, I really expected more from it.

On the memorabilia side of things I have very little, I do have the Death Star tattooed on my arm as part of a space pinball machine design, I own The original Trilogy on widescreen VHS collectors set with a bonus VHS, pre-edits.

I have Marvel Comics Star Wars Issue 24 from June 1979 framed on the wall because my date of birth is June 24, 1979

I have 1983 Topps Slave Girl Leia card signed by Carrie Fisher.

Every May 4th I watch something Star Wars related, this year it's the 3 latest episodes of Andor.
